Campbell River’s Make a Joyful Noise music students are tuning up to perform at Quadra’s last
summer market in September to raise awareness for Quadra Cat Rescue.
Along with some traditional songs learned on piano and guitar, the students perform on a
number of other instruments, including bongo drums, xylophone, shakers and coloured
handbells.
“There’s sure to be some silliness as well, as boomwhackers and costumes are a part of their
theatrical repertoire,” says music teacher and Quadra Cat Rescue foster mom Krista Kervin.
Make a Joyful Noise performers are donating their Quadra tour time to raise awareness about
the number of homeless cats and kittens on the island.
They also want to help raise funds to support Quadra Cat Rescue’s spay and neuter program.
Make a Joyful Noise will also bring along painted canvas folk art many with a musical and/or cat
theme. So come and listen to the music, pick out your favourite piece of easily affordable (by
donation) art, and enjoy Quadra’s last Saturday market of the summer season on Sept. 15. The
market runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. behind the Coastal Community Credit Union in Quathiaski
Cove – a short walk up the hill from the ferry landing.
Make a Joyful Noise will perform 11:15 a.m. to noon, weather permitting. Artwork will be on
display throughout the market day.
Quadra Cat Rescue has fixed more than 220 cats and kittens since March 2009 – and found
homes for many that turned out to be strays or abandoned.
