Ten island cats will soon be fixed, thanks to funding provided by the Strathcona Regional District through Area C Director Robyn Mawhinney.

The grant timing is purr-fect because kitten season has begun. Quadra Cat Rescue volunteers are already dealing with six new arrivals and their mama, after an island resident noticed the felines fending for themselves.

Every year, kittens born on Quadra far outnumber local homes wanting pets. Please help by getting cats spayed or neutered before they’re five months old. One unfixed pair of cats and their offspring can produce 500 kittens in three years.

Want help getting a pet to the vet? Quadra Cat Rescue offers a lower-cost spay neuter program for people in need. Just complete the form here.

Also, please contact us about any stray cats so we can get them fixed too.

Fixing cats before they reproduce reduces the workload for volunteers, who’ve been helping islanders and their cats since March 2009.
